British travellers go long-hau
A GROWING number of British tourists are ready to go long-haul to get better value on their spending money, says Post Office Travel Money.
magnetic Gold TungstenIt says the pound buys more foreign currency today than a year ago in only four destinations - the Croatian kuna (pound is up 4.6%); the Bulgarian lev (3.92%); the Euro (3.68%); and the Czech koruna (up 0.26%).
However, sales at Post Office counters have crashed for three of those four coins - the koruna by 22%, the kuna by 8% and the lev by 15%.
Meanwhile, demand for currency by British tourists has been rising fastest in the past year for the Brazilian real ( 238%); Indonesian rupiah ( 23%, for Bali); Kenyan shilling ( 15%); and Egyptian pound ( 14%).
rolex fakeSarah Munro, head of Post Office Travel Money, said: "Sterling has pulled back against the euro to its strongest rate for over 18 months, yet euro sales struggle to match 2009 levels.
"Similarly, the UK pound has moved up in value against the Eastern European currencies for Bulgaria, Croatia and the Czech republic, yet sales are slipping.

She says travellers yet to book a summer holiday should do their homework to find a resort offering the best possible exchange rate and a low cost of living.
"They can also save money by changing their currency well before they arrive at the airport - and then cut their costs abroad by using a credit card, like the Post Office card, which charges a 0% commission."
